Are rose and jack from titanic real?

I saw the movie and i herd that the story was made up...but i also herd the naked picture of rose found under the water was an actual picture that they found. and if its not true...at the end of the movie when the older rose is laying in the bed there are pictures of her from when she was younger. Who are those pictures of if they werent her? Im so confused!!
